About Diana Carey:

A wonder of the natural world and inner states of being in Diana Carey's action style paintings and contemporary fresco stones gives the viewer a glimpse of the artist's evolving work over the past decade. Her ongoing Tangles series which began in 2008, focuses on the landscape, with scenes of beach grass, stands of trees, and the flowering flora of Southern California. In her artwork she uses a gestural technique of throwing, splattering and dripping paint onto the canvas creating subtle representational images that have an underlined abstract connotation and emotive power. Carey's technique of "thrown" paint denotes a pervasive energy to her work while allowing the subject to emerge before our eyes. Her award winning Contemporary Frescoes and Hearts of Stone are cubistic precursors to her abstractive break onto canvas. This exhibit will bring back a sampling from both stone styles.

Diana Carey has exhibited her work extensively in Southern California including her solo exhibitions at the Japanese Friendship Garden, 4 Walls Design Gallery and Trios Gallery. She has also had solo shows at the Territories Gallery in Tucson, Arizona. Her group exhibitions include those at The San Diego Art Institute Museum, The National Museum of Catholic Art and History, New York and The Historical Society of Washington, D.C. She is currently represented in Europe by CultureInside Gallery, Luxembourg.
